In this document we discuss the roadmap for the EU Strategy for sustainable textiles by the European Commission. The European Union (EU) is in the process of developing an EU strategy for sustainable textiles for the EU textile market. Currently, they have published a roadmap on key ideas that the upcoming strategy may hold. While it is still in public consultation and thus still up for discussion, we have written this document to (1) give an overview of why and how the EU is intervening in the industry and (2) what we judge to be appropriate and sufficient to go towards a “sustainable” textile industry.
